Train the Trainer for teachers, college faculty and academy trainers

Teachers and faculty already know how to teach — but adult and professional learners need a different approach. The Bodhih Certified Train The Trainer (TTT) Program helps college faculty, coaching institutes and corporate academies teach adults more interactively and measurably.

Quick answer

Train the trainer for teachers helps college faculty, coaching-institute trainers and corporate academy staff teach adult learners more effectively. Instead of lecture-led pedagogy, it builds andragogy-based design, Bloom's Taxonomy objectives, experiential activities, facilitation and evaluation. Bodhih's 4-day certified TTT is 80% practice, capped at 15, and you redesign one of your own sessions or courses.

Why teachers and faculty take Train the Trainer

Because adult learners respond to a different approach from school students. College students, working professionals and corporate learners want relevance, bring their own experience and disengage quickly from one-way lectures. Many excellent teachers were trained in pedagogy — a model designed for children — and never formally learned andragogy, the principles of adult learning popularised by Malcolm Knowles.

A practice-based Train the Trainer program fills that gap. It doesn't replace your subject expertise or classroom experience; it gives you new tools for designing interactive sessions and evidence that learning is actually happening.

Who this is for

College & university faculty

Especially in management, engineering, commerce and professional programs where students need applied skills, not just theory.

Academies & training institutes

Skill academies and professional-course institutes whose trainers teach working adults.

Coaching institutes

Trainers who must explain hard concepts to large groups and keep energy high across long days.

Corporate academies

Internal faculty in corporate universities and learning academies who run structured programs for employees.

Pedagogy vs andragogy: what changes in your classroom

The shift is from "what will I cover?" to "what will learners be able to do?" Here is how the two approaches differ in practice:

Lecture-led teachingAndragogy-based training
Starting pointThe syllabusLearners' needs and the performance required
Objectives"Understand", "know about"Observable verbs from Bloom's Taxonomy — "analyse", "apply", "design"
Learner roleListen and take notesDiscuss, practise, reflect and apply
Use of experienceLimitedLearners' experience is a resource for discussion
ActivitiesOccasionalDesigned around Kolb's Experiential Learning Cycle with structured debriefs
EvaluationExam marksKirkpatrick levels — reaction, learning, behaviour and results

What you'll practise in the Bodhih Certified TTT

The 4-day curriculum takes you through the full training cycle using your own content:

  1. Day 1 — Foundations: Knowles' andragogy, Kolb's cycle and Bloom's Taxonomy, plus a recorded baseline delivery so you see how you currently teach.
  2. Day 2 — Instructional design: the ADDIE model, Training Needs Analysis, experiential activity design and storytelling for training.
  3. Day 3 — Advanced facilitation: voice, body language and use of space; questioning techniques; managing 7 types of difficult participants; virtual training.
  4. Day 4 — Assessment & evaluation: Kirkpatrick's four levels, your recorded final certification delivery and building your trainer brand.

Teachers often bring a lecture or a module they teach every term. By Day 4 you leave with a redesigned, ready-to-deliver version, plus a participant workbook, the Trainer's Toolkit of 100+ activities, icebreakers, energizers and debrief templates, and design templates for session plans and feedback forms.

Practical changes faculty usually make afterwards

  • Opening each class with a question or short problem instead of a recap slide.
  • Replacing long lecture blocks with 10–15 minute inputs followed by application tasks.
  • Using structured debriefs after case studies, so discussion leads to clear takeaways.
  • Checking understanding with targeted questions rather than "any doubts?"
  • Collecting simple evidence of application, not just attendance and marks.

How TTT complements faculty development

Most faculty development programmes focus on subject updates, research or academic administration. A Train the Trainer program focuses on one thing: what happens in the session itself. That makes the two complementary rather than overlapping.

Faculty who teach working professionals — executive education, part-time programmes or corporate-sponsored courses — often find the TTT especially relevant, because their learners expect application to the workplace.

Questions to ask before you enrol

Before committing, faculty usually want to know whether the program will fit their context. Good questions to ask any provider: Will I practise with my own course material? How many times will I deliver, and will I get recorded feedback? Is there an assessed final delivery, or only attendance? What support is available after the program ends? For the Bodhih TTT, the answers are yes, several times with recordings on Day 1 and Day 4, yes, and a 40-day reinforcement journey plus a 1-on-1 coaching session.

Options for individuals and institutions

Individual teachers can join an open batch — Mumbai 18–21 Nov 2026 or Bengaluru 9–12 Dec 2026 (check the batch calendar or call +91 99000 11601 to confirm) — or the live online program, which suits faculty outside the metros.

Institutions can run the program in-house for a faculty group on their own dates and campus, in person, online or blended, with group pricing on request. Faculty who design entire courses may also find Bodhih's instructional design for trainers program a useful next step.

Frequently asked questions

Is Train the Trainer useful for experienced teachers?

Yes, particularly when you teach adults — college students, working professionals or corporate learners. TTT focuses on andragogy, experiential design and facilitation rather than lecturing, which complements a teaching background. Experienced teachers often find the recorded practice deliveries and structured feedback the most useful part.

What is the difference between pedagogy and andragogy?

Pedagogy refers to teaching children, where the teacher largely directs what and how students learn. Andragogy, popularised by Malcolm Knowles, describes how adults learn: they want relevance, draw on experience, prefer problem-centred learning and take responsibility for their own learning. Adult and professional education works best when it is designed around these principles.

Is the Bodhih TTT a recognised faculty development program?

Bodhih's TTT is a professional trainer certification leading to the Bodhih Certified Trainer credential. It is not a university or regulatory qualification, so institutions should check their own requirements for faculty development credits. Many faculty take it to strengthen adult teaching practice and add a verifiable trainer credential.

Can a college or institute run the program for its faculty?

Yes. Bodhih runs the TTT in-house on custom dates and locations — in person, virtually or blended — with group pricing on request. Faculty can work on their own courses during the program. Email solutions@bodhih.com or see the corporate and in-house TTT page.

Will this help coaching institute trainers?

Yes. Coaching institutes rely on trainers who can keep large groups engaged, explain difficult concepts clearly and check understanding continuously. The TTT's work on Bloom's Taxonomy objectives, questioning techniques, energy management and handling difficult participants applies directly to classroom coaching for competitive exams or professional courses.

Can teachers move into corporate training after TTT?

Many do. A teaching background gives you strong classroom presence; TTT adds corporate methods such as Training Needs Analysis, ADDIE design and Kirkpatrick evaluation, plus a credential. Our guide on how to become a corporate trainer in India explains the transition.
