For Johannesburg's banks, insurers and mining houses, Cape Town and Durban's global business services centres, and the retailers and manufacturers that train at scale — in-house, online or at an India open batch.

Quick answer

You can earn a Train the Trainer certification in South Africa — also known as Training of Trainers (TOT) — through Bodhih's 4-day Certified TTT program, delivered in-house in Johannesburg, Cape Town or any city, a dedicated online batch on South African time (3.5 hours behind India), or at an India open batch. Fees are in ZAR or USD on request; it is not a SETA qualification.

Online timing: South African time vs IST

South Africa Standard Time (SAST, UTC+2) is 3.5 hours behind India Standard Time, all year. A 9:00 AM–6:00 PM IST online day would run 5:30 AM–2:30 PM in Johannesburg and Cape Town. A few early risers manage it, but for four consecutive days most groups prefer a dedicated online batch timed to South African office hours, which Bodhih can arrange for in-house teams. See how live sessions work on the online TTT page.

Who needs trainer skills in South Africa

South Africa has Africa's most developed corporate training market, and in most organisations training is delivered by internal specialists — product experts, team leaders, engineers and safety officers — as well as by dedicated L&D staff.

  • Banking, insurance and financial services, concentrated in Johannesburg and Sandton, run continuous product, regulatory and customer-experience training.
  • Global business services and contact centres in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban serve UK, Australian and US clients and onboard new agents constantly.
  • Mining and heavy industry depend on rigorous safety, technical and supervisory training.
  • Retail and FMCG train large store and distribution workforces to consistent standards.
  • Automotive and manufacturing in Gauteng, the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal rely on plant trainers and technical instructors.
  • Public sector, NGOs and community programmes use TOT cascades for health, education and development work.

SETAs, facilitator unit standards and the Bodhih credential

South Africa has a formal skills-development system. Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) and the quality council for trades and occupations (QCTO) oversee accredited occupational learning, and facilitators of accredited programmes are commonly expected to have completed registered facilitator training — for example the unit standard Facilitate learning using a variety of given methodologies (SAQA ID 117871), associated with the ETDP SETA.

The Bodhih Certified Trainer credential is a professional skills certification issued by Bodhih Training Solutions. Bodhih claims no SETA, ETDP SETA, QCTO or SAQA accreditation, and the program does not replace registered facilitator or assessor qualifications. If you need to facilitate accredited learning, check the relevant SETA's requirements directly.

Many South African organisations take both routes: compliance qualifications where accredited delivery is required, and an intensive, practice-led TTT to raise the actual quality of facilitation across their internal training.

Who attends from South Africa

Typical participants include L&D and HR practitioners, bank and insurance academy facilitators, contact-centre trainers and team leaders, mine safety and technical trainers, retail operations trainers, and independent facilitators who already hold registered qualifications but want deeper, practice-led facilitation skills. There are no formal prerequisites, and every participant redesigns a module they actually deliver.

In-house TTT for South African organisations

An in-house batch suits a bank, insurer, GBS operator or mining group: your venue, your dates and practice on your own induction, product or safety modules. For GBS and technology teams, Bodhih also runs corporate training for IT and global capability centres. See the corporate Train the Trainer page for scoping.

Frequently asked questions

Is Bodhih's Train the Trainer program available in Johannesburg or Cape Town?

Yes, as an in-house batch at your organisation's venue in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban or elsewhere, as a live online batch, or by travelling to an open batch in Mumbai or Bengaluru. No public open batch in South Africa is currently announced. Email solutions@bodhih.com or call +91 99000 11601.

What does Train the Trainer cost in South Africa?

Fees for South African participants are shared on request in ZAR or USD, depending on format, location and group size. An in-house quote covers a full batch of up to 15 participants. Email solutions@bodhih.com with your city, preferred dates and number of trainers to receive a quote.

Is this an ETDP SETA or QCTO-accredited facilitator course?

No. Bodhih claims no SETA, ETDP SETA, QCTO or SAQA accreditation for this program. The Bodhih Certified Trainer credential is a professional skills certification issued by Bodhih Training Solutions. If you need to facilitate accredited learning programmes, check the facilitator requirements of the relevant SETA or quality council directly.

What time are online sessions in South Africa?

South Africa Standard Time (UTC+2) is 3.5 hours behind India. A 9:00 AM–6:00 PM IST day runs 5:30 AM–2:30 PM in Johannesburg and Cape Town, which is early for most people. For South African groups, Bodhih can arrange a dedicated online batch timed to local working hours.

Is the program useful for contact-centre and GBS trainers?

Yes. South African GBS and CX centres serve demanding international clients, and their trainers run onboarding, product, process and quality training continuously. The program's focus on adult learning, experiential design, handling difficult participants and Kirkpatrick evaluation helps them shorten speed to proficiency and show the impact of training.

Can trainers from neighbouring countries join a South African batch?

Yes. Organisations with operations across Southern Africa — Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and others — can bring trainers into one in-house batch, either at a single venue or as a dedicated online batch. Batches are capped at 15 participants so everyone gets enough practice and feedback.
