Quick answer

There is no single best train the trainer certification in India; it depends on budget, format and career goal. ISTD offers a short, low-cost option; KPMG in India a weekend hybrid; ATD and CIPD suit international HR careers; DDI certifies you to deliver DDI content. Bodhih's 4-day, 80% practice TTT (₹40,000 + GST, max 15, assessed delivery) suits most corporate trainers. This page is published by Bodhih.

Disclosure: who wrote this comparison

This page is published by Bodhih Training Solutions, which runs the Bodhih Certified Train The Trainer (TTT) Program. We have an obvious interest in the outcome, so we have tried to be fair: every competitor fact below comes from that provider's own published page, listed in the sources at the end of this article, and where a detail is not published we say so rather than guess. We also say plainly when another program is a better fit than ours.

How the main train the trainer certifications compare

Checked on 9 Oct 2026; confirm with the provider. Fees, dates and formats change, so always check the provider's current page before you decide. Two other names come up often. Indian Leadership Academy in Bengaluru runs a TTT certification, but we could not verify its duration or fees on a published page of its own, so it is not in the table. TISS ran a 5-day facilitation certificate in the past, but the page we found is archived from a 2018 batch, so we have not presented it as current.

How to choose a train the trainer certification

Use these criteria to compare any program, including ours. Our full guide on how to choose a Train the Trainer program expands on each.

  1. Your goal. Do you need to deliver better sessions next month, build an international HR career, or become licensed to deliver a specific vendor's content? These lead to different programs.
  2. Amount of live practice. Ask how many times each participant delivers and receives feedback. Delivery skill comes from doing, not watching.
  3. Batch size. Smaller groups mean more practice per person. Several providers do not publish a cap, so ask.
  4. How the credential is earned. An assessed delivery, a final project or coursework tells an employer more than attendance alone.
  5. Format and time. A 1-day course, a 3–4 day intensive, weekend hybrid, blended online over weeks, or a 12–16 month diploma suit very different schedules.
  6. Total cost. Compare fee plus taxes, travel and time away from work, and consider the cost per hour of live practice rather than the headline fee alone.
  7. Curriculum depth. Check for adult learning, needs analysis, instructional design (such as ADDIE), facilitation, difficult participants, virtual delivery and evaluation (such as the Kirkpatrick model).

Which train the trainer certification is best for whom?

For an international HR or L&D career: ATD or CIPD

If you plan to work in global L&D roles, or your employer benchmarks against ATD or CIPD, these are widely recognised international names in the profession. The ATD Master Trainer® Program (28 learning hours, blended online) and the ATD Training & Facilitation Certificate (21 learning hours) are shorter options priced in US dollars. The CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in Organisational L&D is a much broader 12–16 month qualification covering L&D as a profession, not only delivery. Our TTT vs ATD and CIPD comparison covers this decision in detail.

For a tight budget or a short format: ISTD

ISTD's Certified Train The Trainer is a 3-day program at Rs 17,000 + GST (Rs 12,000 + GST for members), with multiple practice deliveries and individual feedback according to its published page. If cost is the deciding factor and a 3-day format suits you, it is a sensible choice.

For weekend learners who value a big-firm certificate: KPMG in India

KPMG in India's Certification in Advanced Facilitation and Training Skills runs over 4 weekends, combining 16+ hours of live sessions with an in-person bootcamp, at INR 30,000 + taxes. It suits working professionals who cannot take four consecutive weekdays off.

If you deliver DDI programs: DDI

The DDI Facilitator Certification Process is the route if your organisation licenses DDI's leadership content. It certifies you to deliver DDI material, rates you on four facilitator competencies and keeps groups to six. It is not designed as a general train the trainer qualification.

For flexible, self-paced study: Henry Harvin or The Knowledge Academy

Henry Harvin combines 24 hours of live online instruction with self-paced content and auto-graded assessments. The Knowledge Academy offers a 1-day course in several formats. Neither publishes details of assessed live delivery on the pages we checked, so if delivery practice matters to you, ask them directly how much is included.

For practice-heavy classroom training with assessed delivery: Bodhih

Bodhih's program is 4 consecutive days and 32+ contact hours, with 80% of the time spent on practice, batches capped at 15 and a final assessed certification delivery. It suits trainers who want to improve how they actually design and deliver, and who can attend a classroom batch in Mumbai (18–21 Nov 2026) or Bengaluru (9–12 Dec 2026), or join a live online or in-house batch.

Why we think Bodhih suits most corporate trainers

Reminder: this section is our own view as the publisher of this page. Most people searching for a train the trainer certification in India are corporate trainers, subject matter experts, HR professionals and managers who need to run better sessions at work, soon. For that group, we believe three things matter most, and they are what our program is built around:

  • Practice volume. 80% of the four days is practice. You deliver a baseline session, redesign it and deliver again, with peer and trainer feedback using Bodhih's Trainer Competency Matrix.
  • An earned credential. The Bodhih Certified Trainer credential is awarded only after a final assessed delivery. It is a professional skills certification issued by Bodhih, not a government accreditation or a university qualification.
  • A complete method. The curriculum runs from adult learning and Training Needs Analysis through ADDIE design, facilitation, difficult participants and virtual delivery to Kirkpatrick evaluation, with 3 trainer toolkits (chosen from Bodhih's library of 100).

Bodhih has worked with organisations since 2008, has served 2,000+ companies and has certified 12,000+ trainers. That said, if you need an ATD or CIPD credential for an international role, or a DDI licence to deliver DDI content, choose those. Some trainers take a practice-led program first and add a broader qualification later.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the best train the trainer certification in India?

It depends on your goal. ATD or CIPD suit international HR and L&D careers, ISTD suits a short, low-cost format, KPMG in India suits weekend learners, and DDI suits trainers delivering DDI content. For corporate trainers who want practice-heavy classroom training with an assessed delivery, Bodhih's 4-day TTT is a strong fit. This answer is published by Bodhih.

How much does a train the trainer certification cost in India?

Published fees checked on 9 Oct 2026 range from Rs 17,000 + GST (ISTD; Rs 12,000 + GST for members) and INR 30,000 + taxes (KPMG in India), to ₹40,000 + GST (Bodhih) and from INR 1,54,995 (The Knowledge Academy). ATD programs are priced in US dollars. Always confirm current fees with the provider.

Is an ATD or CIPD certification better than a train the trainer course?

Not better, but different. ATD and CIPD are widely recognised internationally, and the CIPD Level 5 diploma covers L&D as a whole over 12–16 months. A practice-based train the trainer course focuses on design and delivery skills over a few days. Choose based on your career plan; some trainers take both at different stages.

Are any train the trainer certifications in India government-accredited?

None of the corporate programs compared here, including Bodhih's, is presented as a government accreditation. Each issues its own certificate or credential. India has no mandatory licence for corporate trainers, so employers generally look at demonstrated delivery skill, experience and the reputation of the provider.

Why is Bodhih included in its own comparison?

This page is published by Bodhih, and we include our program so readers can compare it on the same terms. Competitor details come only from each provider's published page, listed in the sources, and we state where details are not published. We also recommend other programs where they are the better fit.
